Where are all the BI Apps available to me in Microsoft Power BI?

You just joined a new company. New laptop, new accounts, new tools.

Someone from your team tells you:👉 “Check the new Power BI app—we track everything there.”

Sounds simple, right?

You open the “One Place” portal (or your company intranet)…You click around…You search…

🤔 Nothing.

Now you’re thinking:🧐 Where are all the BI apps available to me?🫠 Am I missing access? Did I open the wrong place?

Don’t worry—this is one of the most common questions for new joiners.

The Reality: Power BI Apps are not where you expect

In most organizations using Microsoft 365, Power BI apps are not always visible from a central “portal” page.

Instead, they live inside the Power BI Service.

Step-by-step: How to find your BI Apps

🔹 Step 1: Go to Power BI Service

Open your browser and navigate to:👉 https://app.powerbi.com

🔹 Step 2: Sign in

Use your company account (same as Teams, Outlook, etc.)

🔹 Step 3: Click on “Apps”

Look at the left-hand menu and select:👉 Apps

This is your personal library of BI applications.

🔹 Step 4: Check what’s already installed

Here you’ll see:

• Apps already deployed to you

• Apps you’ve previously installed

👉 If you’re lucky, your team’s app is already there.

🔹 Step 5: Click “Get apps” (this is the key step 🔑)

If you don’t see anything relevant:

👉 Click “Get apps” (top right corner)

This opens a gallery where you can:

• Browse all apps shared with your organization

• Search by name (e.g., “Sales”, “Finance”, “Operations”)

🔹 Step 6: Install the app

Found it?

👉 Click Get it now

The app will now appear in your Apps list.

🔹 Step 7: Still can’t find it?

Check the Workspaces section.

👉 Sometimes content is shared as:

• Reports in Workspaces (not packaged as Apps)

• Or you simply don’t have access yet

In that case…📩 Time to message your colleague or admin.

🚨 Common confusion (everyone goes through this)

Apps ≠ Workspaces

• Apps → polished, business-ready dashboards

• Workspaces → development & collaboration areas

• Not all apps are auto-installed

• Not all apps are visible unless you click “Get apps”

Always ask:

• What’s the exact name?

• Is it an App or Workspace?
